Fall 2015 Class Schedule

All classes begin at 10am and are located at the nursery unless indicated otherwise. Space is limited so please be sure to register.

A minimum of 5 attendees is needed for a class, otherwise the class may be canceled.

Saturday morning classes at Shooting Star Nursery in Central Point, Oregon include coffee and treats, plus sandbox to entertain the kids

~During classes there will also be a sandbox, treasure hunt, coffee, and refreshments (children are still under parents' supervision).

Shooting Star Nursery specializes in drought tolerant and deer resistant plants and we would love to show you some late blooming varieties which perform beautifully in our myriad of microclimates and you may not be familiar with. Many late blooming perennials offer seedheads and a pollen source for our pollinator friends. So come get a personal tour and see what beauties will give your garden a boost this fall!

Fall is for Drought Tolerant Plants!

at North Mountain Nature Center, Ashland

Fall is the best time to plant your drought tolerant garden. Learn about plants that can take the heat and need less water. There are countless species and varieties in all shapes and sizes, with a range of bloom times, including natives, so your garden will never look dull. Even replace your lawn with some of them! We will show you how to care for them and prep the soil, as well as appropriate watering methods. We will have many plants on hand so you can touch, see, and smell your favorites.

Our Rogue Valley has its own unique climate and many microclimates , so we cannot plant our gardens like it is the Pacific NW or southern California. If you are new to our valley or just want to learn about what plants perform the best here, come to this class and see what diverse options you have.

Besides adding texture, movement, and color to the garden they are also usually deer resistant and many are drought tolerant. Come learn about the best grass options for our area, as we have the most diverse selection of grasses the Rogue Valley has to offer! We will also show you how to care for them, from evergreen to deciduous types.
